Join Financing Net-Zero: Exploring Public Willingness to Fund Carbon Offsets in Canada’s National Parks Youth Research Lab Team!
Mission:
In the context of Canada's 2050 carbon neutrality goal, Parks Canada is implementing strategies to achieve net-zero emissions. Due to supportive policies and advancements in technology, national parks can develop carbon offset projects effectively, as it is easy to demonstrate additionality. Developing carbon offset activities and encouraging visitors to pay for them can help national parks achieve their net-zero goals while generating additional revenue.
Research:
We will partner with a university professor to guide and mentor this team. The project will make a trip to Banff, and conduct first-hand research on April 6th, it will last for 12 months with a group of high school researchers. The project will be remote, and hence students from all parts of Canada can join. Researchers will not receive any monetary compensation for their work; they will receive a certificate of completion when the project is completed.

Congratulations to 2024 students:
Through 12+ months of work, the team researched and produced a paper with their instructor Chen Zheng.
