Dr. Rashid Sumaila
Dr. Rashid Sumaila is a globally recognized fisheries economist and professor at the University of British Columbia’s Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries. His groundbreaking work focuses on the economics of overfishing, high seas governance, and equity in ocean policy. He is a winner of the Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement and a passionate advocate for ocean sustainability that benefits current and future generations.

Peter Baker
Peter Baker is Director of the U.S. Oceans Program at the Pew Charitable Trusts, where he leads national efforts to advance ecosystem-based fisheries management. With over two decades of experience in ocean policy and campaign strategy, he has played a central role in developing science-driven reforms for Atlantic fisheries, marine protected areas, and offshore conservation.

Lisa Simone De Grunt
Lisa de Grunt Simone is a marine conservationist and community engagement specialist based in British Columbia. With a background in coastal ecology and Indigenous-led stewardship, she works to bridge science, policy, and local action in protecting marine biodiversity. Lisa is especially focused on sustainable marine planning and empowering youth and underrepresented voices in ocean decision-making.

Angela Zhang
Angela Zhang is a high school student graduating in 2028. As an enthusiastic dragon boater, she spends a lot of time with the oceans of Vancouver. This personal connection fuels her interest in ocean stewardship and related policies.
